REFLEX Efficacy and Crop Safety

Objectives

  1. How does the efficacy and crop safety of Reflex applied alone and in the various mixes compare to the local standard?
  2. How does the addition of a mix partner to Reflex compare to Reflex applied alone with respect to efficacy and crop safety?

Background

Relfex was trialled for broadleaf weed control in lupins. The trial was sown on the 7th of June in Dumbleyung, WA. Wild Radish Raphanus raphanistrum and volunteer Bonito Canola were spread prior to spraying IBS treatments, to mimic a medium-high weed burden of approximately 8 plants/m2. The GSR was 240ml.

Early Knockdown – 23/3/20: Nufarm WeedMaster DST 1.5L/ha, BASF Sharpen 20g/ha, Kamba 750 200ml/ha, Hasten 1%, Ammonium Sulphate 1%.

Pre-seeding Knockdown – 4/6/2020: Nufarm WeedMaster DST 1.5L/ha, Corteva Goal 60ml/ha, Hammer 15ml/ha, Wetter1000 0.2%, Ammonium Sulphate 1%.

Immediately Pre-seeding 7/6/2020: Syngenta Paraquat 2L/ha, Hammer 20ml/ha, Conquest Alpha Forte 160ml/ha, Dicamba 125ml/ha.

Key Findings

  • All treatments containing Relfex IBS or PSPE provided significantly better control of broadleaf weeds.
  • No significant difference between plots applied IBS or PSPE.
  • Reflex tank mixed with a group C increased efficacy and residual control for up to 11 weeks after sowing.
  • Reflex 1500ml + Metribuzin 300g/ha had best residual control (96.3%) at 11WAS.
  • No crop effect was seen after IBS or PSPE application.
  • As a new group G herbicide, Reflex will go a long way to help growers control brassica weeds and rotate away from the ‘imi’ chemistry that has been heavily relied on over the years.
